Barcelona native Juan Carlos Navarro went through the FC Barcelona youth ranks and debuted in the Spanish league at the age of 17. He went on to win four Spanish league championships, three Spanish Cups, and a Euroleague title [in 2003]. The shooting guard took ACB MVP honors in the 05/06 season, then joined the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies for 07/08, reuniting with his old Barcelona and longtime Spain teammate Pau Gasol. However, Gasol was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers midway through the season, and with the Grizzlies on lottery course and the players only playing for their own stats, a disappointed Navarro opted to come back home, despite putting up double digits in points in his NBA Rookie season. He signed a lucrative five year contract with the catalans, making it probable that he’ll end his career with Barcelona.
