Foreigner restrictions in European basketball leagues

  • Adriatic Basketball Association NLB League: No restrictions, regulation through the domestic leagues;
  • Austria: Minimum of four Austrian players on the 12-man-gamesheet;
  • Baltic BBL: No restrictions;
  • Belgian Ethias League: Minimum of four Belgian players on the 12-man-gamesheet;
  • Bosnia D1: Maximum of three foreigners allowed; Croatians and Serbians do not count as foreigners;
  • Croatia: Maximum of four foreigners allowed;
  • Eurochallenge: No restrictions;
  • Eurocup: No restrictions;
  • Euroleague: No restrictions;
  • French ProA: Minimum of four French pro players on teams with 11 pro contracts or less; Minimum of six French pro players on teams with 12 pro contracts or more; Six non-Europeans allowed, but maximum of four Americans. The other two spots can be taken by Bosman C [Algeria, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Marocco, Uzbekistan, Turkey] and Cotonou players;
  • German BBL: Minimum of four Germans on the 12-man-gamesheet;
  • Greek A1: Minimum of six Greeks on the 12-man-gamesheet, maximum of six foreigners, maximum of three non-Europeans;
  • Israeli BSL: Minimum of two Israeli players must be on the floor simultaneously for each team at all times.
  • Italian Lega A: A minimum of six Italian players on the 12-man-gamesheet, a maximum of two of those may be naturalised; Maximum of three non-Europeans;
  • Lithuania: Maximum of five foreigners on 12-man-gamesheet;
  • Luxemburg DBBL: One non-EU-foreigner allowed as well as one EU-foreigner, who has been living and playing in Luxemburg for at least a year;
  • Netherlands: Minimum of five Dutch players on the 12-man-gamesheet;
  • Portugese LPB: Maximum of four foreigners allowed; minimum of two Portugese players must be on the floor simultaneously for each team at all times;
  • Russian Superleague: Minimum of seven Russians on the 12-man-gamesheet, maximum of five foreigners; minimum of two Russian players must be on the floor simultaneously for each team at all times; non-Russian assistant coaches are not allowed to sit on the bench;
  • Serbia: Maximum of two foreigners allowed;
  • Slovenia: Minimum of six Slovenian players on the 12-man-gamesheet;
  • Spanish ACB: Minimum of four Spanish players on a 11-man-gamesheet, minimum of five on a 12-man-gamesheet; maximum of two non-Europeans;
  • Switzerland: Maximum of three non-EU players;
  • Turkish TBL: Six foreigners allowed on the roster, but only five are allowed on the 12-man-gamesheet; minimum of two Turkish players must be on the floor simultaneously for each team at all times; additional foreign players may be signed for the European competitions, but none of those may replace one of the already registered foreigners in the Turkish league;
  • United Kingdom: Maximum of three non-EU players;
