Career Notes

Felipe Reyes has made steady improvement throughout his career and is now one of Europe’s premier power forwards. He is a key member of the highly successful Spanish national team, who he won two Eurobasket bronze medals, one Olympic silver medal, and one world championship gold medal with. Reyes grew up with Ramiro de Maezto and Estudiantes Juniors before [being a very successful player on Spanish junior national teams] making his pro debut with Estudiantes during the 98/99 season. Over the years, he became their leader, averaging 15.4 points per game for the club in 03/04. City rivals Real Madrid showed interest and signed wthe undersized forward/center in summer 2005, and Reyes has not disappointed, leading the club to the 06/07 ACB championship and the ULEB-Cup title the same year. 07/08 was a huge disappointment though, as Real crashed out of the ACB quarter finals and did not make it through the Top16 group phase in the Euroleague in a season when the city was hosting the Final Four.
