After winning the prestigous Copa del Rey with TAU Vitoria as well as MVP honors for the Top8 tournament, Mirza Teletovic signed a new contract with TAU, keeping him in Vitoria-Gasteiz until the end of the 2014 season. Assuming Tiago Splitter [possesses a contract with the Basques until 2012, with NBA optout clauses] does not go overseas, TAU will have a deadly frontcourt combination for years to come.

Mirza Teletovic is destined to be one of the key players for TAU in the on-going 08/09 Euroleague campaign. The BiH international is an outstanding shooting forward who has shown the ability to hit daggers in decisive moments this year. One and a half weeks ago, he hit a game winning floater in Ljubljana two seconds from time only two follow it up with three three pointers in fourt quarter action of ACB’s top clash with Real Madrid. Against ALBA, the 23-year-old continued where he left off the weekend before, connecting on 6 out of 7 field goal attempts, including 2 of 3 from downtown. However, the most pleasant development of his game has not taken place in the shooting department. Above average athleticism, excellent jumpshot from beyond the arc, solid work on the boards – those attributes have always been the 2.06m power forward’s strengths. It’s his improved understanding of the game, significantly improved passing from the highpost position, that make him a high-calibre, well-rounded Euroleague forward this season. Quite appropriately, it wasn’t the effortless three-pointers he let rain on ALBA on Wednesday that were his highlight plays of the evening. It was a beautiful bullet-like pass out of the highpost position inside to the screening splitter.
